I went to Kindergarten at Haverhill Elementary School in N. Haverhill, NH. I think this pose is so funny - a kid that can barely read is sitting in front of a book. Even then I thought it was weird. I remember looking at the pictures in the book and wanting to spend more time with it. I have no idea what possessed me to choose to wear that leopard shirt on picture day, when I could have worn a cute dress!
I went to 1st Grade in Newbury, Vermont. In this picture I am wearing a green polyester dress with plaid accents, which was very unusual for me. It was scratchy and not very comfortable I usually wore cotton floral outfits that my mother made. You can't see the bottom of the pendant I am wearing, but it was a horse necklace that our landlady gave me. She was an Avon lady, so she would give me very nice things from Avon.
I was 6 years old here, in 2nd grade in Newbury, Vermont. I went to school there for a few months before we moved to Bath, New Hampshire and I transferred to Bath Village School. I am wearing an outfit my mother made. My bangs are uneven because I tried cut them myself, and my hair is a mess because I re-did my barrettes myself while waiting to get the photo taken.
Here I was in 4th grade in Jessieville, Arkansas. I am wearing a dress jumper with a heart on it that my mother made, and a blouse that was purchased and had embroidery on the collar. It was very hot that summer and fall in Arkansas and I always wore skirts to school because shorts were not allowed. I would wear shorts under my skirts so that I could do gymnastics and hang upside down on the monkey bars during recess.
